The Ace Hotel brand was made famous with its rockstar aesthetic that turned the tables on the likes of the Four Seasons when it opened its first five-star boutique accommodation hotel in Seattle back in 1999. With guitars and record players in the rooms, these hotels fed an appetite for something less stuffy.

Designed in partnership with Flack Studio, Ace Hotel Sydney has kept true to the history of the place which is the site of Australia’s earliest kiln discovery, where convict potter Jonathan Leak produced domestic pottery as early as the 1820s.

Now, Sydney has its very own 257-room Ace Hotel located in the heart of Surry Hills. Designed in partnership with Flack Studio, Ace Hotel Sydney has kept true to the history of the place which is the site of Australia’s earliest kiln discovery, where convict potter Jonathan Leak produced domestic pottery as early as the 1820s. It then became the Tyne Building: a sizable brick structure erected in 1916 to house the factory and distribution centre of Washington H. Soul Pattinson Chemists.
