Dee Why Hotel has unveiled a $3 million transformation, breathing new life into the Northern Beaches pub with three distinct new spaces. The venue now boasts Mr B’s, a sports bar, Jade’s, a greenhouse-inspired bistro that doubles as a private event space, and a completely refreshed main bar.
At the heart of the relaunch is the drinks offering, which has been overhauled to match the venue’s bold new look. Signature cocktails take inspiration from the pub’s rich history, like ‘Jade’s’ – a blend of Tanqueray gin, white peach, apple, and mint – and ‘The Glider Room,’ a deeper mix of Woodford Reserve bourbon, St-Germain, honey syrup, lemon, pomegranate, and Peychaud’s bitters. Beer lovers can raise a glass to the pub’s legacy with ‘Nev’s Lager,’ brewed exclusively with local favourites 4 Pines, while ‘Nev’s Negroni’ pays homage to the venue’s original patriarch, Neville Bayfield.
While the drinks have taken centre stage, the food offering remains true to the hotel legacy. The menu keeps crowd favourites like the Double Smash Burger, alongside char-grilled skewers, stone-baked pizzas, elevated pub classics, and unbeatable daily specials.
Mr B’s, named after the pub’s original 90s sports bar, sets a new standard for live sports on the Northern Beaches. A 10-metre TV wall takes centre stage, designed to capture every moment of the action. The space blends retro glamour with nostalgic nods, from curated sports memorabilia to 70s-inspired prints that echo the venue’s roots.
On the other side of the venue, Jade’s offers a more relaxed vibe. Named after the Bayfield family’s first grandchild – and paying tribute to the original 80s bistro – Jade’s channels a greenhouse-inspired design with earthy hues.
The main bar has been given a vibrant lift with pink highlights, rich wood panelling, and glossy terracotta and chocolate tiles. A striking timber-and-brass back bar and warm pendant lighting complete the polished, art-deco-inspired look.
For Kaine Bayfield, Chief Operating Officer and grandson of Neville Bayfield, the renovation represents both a bold step forward and a tribute.
“This is a locals’ pub at its core,” says Bayfield. “Over the years, the Dee Why community has changed and as Northern Beaches locals ourselves, we wanted to create a pub experience that truly resonates with both long-time regulars and new visitors.
