Tokonoma Sochu Bar and Lounge

Tokonoma Sochu Bar and Lounge is the much-anticipated third venture from the team behind the neighbouring Toko restaurant. The popularity of Toko and the ensuing demand for space has been huge, increasing exponentially over the last couple of years.

24 Moons

Opened in October, 24 Moons occupies the old site of the Alley Bar and is a collaboration between four respected and very experienced industry folk: Marcus Motteram, Simon Digby, Boris Von Rechenberg, and Michael Christadoulou (Mr Delicious, Mr Music, Mr Creative and Mr Hospitality respectively). Normally we would list all their relative experience but you’ll have to wait for January’s Bar Profile for that; rest assure that 24 Moons is a meeting of the minds between some serious bar nerds.

Laruche Bar & Supperclub, Brisbane

Laruche is the latest bar offering from Ellie Moubarak owner of West End cocktail joint Lychee Lounge. Moubarak has once again joined forces with designer Remo Vallance (also behind the Lychee Lounge), glass blower Lucal Salton and artists Jennie Jackson and KT Doyle to help him create this decadent new venue

Cargo Bar Pizza Lounge, Hobart

Hobart is welcoming the addition of Cargo Bar Pizza Lounge to its ranks in the Historic Salamanca precinct. This wine bar and pizza spot boasts the creative attentions of Paul Kelly Design. The space previous to the renovation was two tenancies; one a fish and chip shop and the other a historic walkway with cobble stone floors, housing an ATM.

Richmond Club Hotel, Melbourne

The Richmond Club Hotel certainly isn’t a new joint, but it is a pleasure to announce that they re-opened in September following a fire back in November 2008 which caused extensive damage to the Hotel.

The Baden Powell Hotel, Melbourne

Located only a few minutes from the Melbourne CBD, The Baden Powell Hotel occupies a prominent corner and Victorian Terrace which dates back to 1878. Pocket Bar, Sydney

Pocket Bar is a compact Sydney offering that has quickly snaffled itself a loyal following. One of the latest conscripts to the small-bar-revolution-that’s-not swelling its ranks in the Darlinghurst/Surry Hills area, first time owners Karl Schlothauer and Christophe Lehouk have made the most out of the new(ish) primary service authority (PSA) that came into effect after the much talked about ‘small bar’ licensing reforms.

Eden Bar & Restaurant, Sydney

Eden Bar and Restaurant, has grown into the site which previous held @Work Bar and Restaurant, just off Sydney’s Martin Place. Gone is the mildly amusing name (at least it was the first time you used it) and instead you’ll find “a garden of relaxation in the heart of the city.”

399 Bar, Perth

Opened in June, 399 is the brainchild of experienced barkeep and operator Gary Beadle and Robin Jackson. 399 aims to be a true European style of venue: “Where all are welcome as long as they behave appropriately the complete opposite to a trendy fashionable venue”

Bootleg Bar & Italian Food, Sydney

This busy little bar and eatery is nestled away from bustling bright lights on the Kings Cross side of Victoria Street. Owned and operated by first timers Rob Gal and Elliot Krass they describe the interior as being like and old pair of jeans.
