Mosman, the really dark, dark side of the Harbour Bridge has finally got its own wine bar – and it’s proving to be a little hit. Open throughout the day, the Hawthorn turns it on at night time with a great drinks list (the first thing noticed was a German Riesling by the glass – rare to say the least in Sydney) and a passionate sommelier who is on the floor driving his products.

“Hawthorn Mosman will be the local speak-easy: somewhere to drop in for a coffee or glass of wine and share plate, a fantastic breakfast or a fabulous lunch or dinner,” says owner Sean Byrne.

The new site is planning to offer a modern Australian and seasonally driven menu, designed by Head Chef Marco Salvador and consultant Chef George Francisco, and matched to an ever evolving wine list. Bryne sees it as ‘the local speak-easy’. “Somewhere to drop in for a coffee or glass of wine and share plate, a fantastic breakfast or a fabulous lunch or dinner.”

On offer are some great tipples including, Lord Nelson ‘Three Sheets’ ale, Knappstein ‘Reserve lager’ or the always welcome Asahi ‘Super Dry’. With a good selection of spirits and wines, Hawthorn has finally brought some welcome change to the area.
