Andy Penney (ex-Flinders and Duke, Sydney) is now licensee and General Manager of 21 – tha latest Kings Cross nightspot that’s mixing up what the strip has to offer. “Tha name comes from the old days when this place was a notorious gambling den called The Kellet Club,” Penney stated.
Set of Kellett street, the venue runs all the way through and overlooks Macleay St. 21 will offer guests secluded booth seating, bottle service and some great late night food and drink options.
“I’m really excited about the food that’ll be on offer,” Penney said prior to the venue opening. “We’ll be offering Reuben sandwiches, club sandwiches and massive pretzels for starters – there aren’t many good food options after 1pm when Eau de Vie closes.”
21 will be a open from 8pm until 5am and wants to capture both trade and consumer with their offerings. Poata Okeroa, Dave Auld and John Ibrahim are behind the New York style ‘loft’ venue and Penny sees their vision as a good fit for the area. Joong Charpentier is heading up the bar – expect slick cocktails, hand-cut ice and table service.
