The northern suburbs of Sydney have come a long way in drinking terms ever since Sydney’s small bar scene took off, and it’s filtering through to larger venues. Check out The Avenue for a cocktail list that offers more than the past vodka-fruit-liqueur=something-tini formulations of old (though we reckon they’ve missed a golden opportunity to revive a lost classic in the form of The Avenue, the cocktail). And beer is better than ever in the ‘burbs, with a range of styles and breweries making the list here.
There’s plenty of interest in the wine list’s reds, with a tempranillo graciano blend, a nebbiolo and chianti all available by the glass and a bottle list that jumps around the world a bit (a trio of malbecs and some big reds offer up some serious “let’s stay a while” appeal).
You’ll have plenty of options to sustain you through a bottle of wine or three too, with duck liver parfait, a country terrine, and some southern fried chicken all appearing on the share menu.
