Here’s one for you agave nuts out there. Mr Moustache, the little Sydney bar with the very big mezcal list (they’ve got one of the world’s largest selections), is bringing out Phil Ward of influential New York bar, Mayahuel.

It’s Ward’s first visit to Australia and he comes bringing loads of agave spirit knowledge, which he’ll be offering up in a special masterclass at Mr Moustache this Monday. Tickets are just $30 so you’ll want to get in quick (it’s not like Mr Moustache is the world’s largest bar, people).

Ward began his bartending career under Julie Reiner at Flatiron Lounge, in 2003, following up with stints on the opening crews of Pegu Club and Death & Company, before opening New York’s first tequila and mezcal bar, Mayahuel, in 2009. With both an awesome agave knowledge and the bartending chops to match, this is a masterclass you don’t want to miss.
