BACARDÍ® has announced the much anticipated judging panel of the Australian National Final of this year’s Bacardi Legacy competition.

The 2015 panel is a stellar lineup featuring Bacardi family member and Global Brand Manager Enrique Comas, BACARDÍ Master Blender Jose Sanchez Gavito, renowned local bartender and industry expert Phil Bayly and 2014 National Legacy winner Fred Siggins.

Kristie Asciak, Head of Marketing, BACARDI Lion says, “We’re both proud and excited to have these bartending legends judge the National Final. For them, it will be about finding the next addition to the Legacy story and a contender to stand alongside the classics we all know so well.”

Enrique Comas is one of Bacardi’s most knowledgeable employees and a 6th generation family member; Jose Sanchez Gavito was the first non-Cuban, non-family Master Blender for Bacardi and has over 35 years’ experience blending Bacardi Rums; Phil Bayly is known as Australia’s leading authority on tequila and holds the only ‘Distinctivo T’ in the Southern Hemisphere and Fred Siggins, last year’s winner, has been continuously praised for his creativity and originality behind his award-drink, The Empire of Dreams.

About the BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition
Over 150 years ago, Facundo Bacardi wanted to create a rum spirit that was so light and subtle it would enhance other flavours it was mixed with – rather than dominate or disappear. Thanks to this mixable spirit some of the great cocktails today were born such as the Original BACARDÍ Daiquiri and the Original BACARDÍ Mojito.

BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition is a search for the modern Legacy, giving bartenders the opportunity to create their own legacy through creating a cocktail that will proudly stand alongside the classics like the Daiquiri, Pina Colada and Mojito.

Each year, the competition receives thousands of entries, with national finals this year taking place across 36 countries. Winning the competition puts professional bartenders on a world stage where, with BACARDÍ’s support, they can go on to achieve incredible success in the industry.

The National Legacy Final will take place at Cuban bar El Coco in Melbourne on the 3rd of March. We’re proud to be the host country for the 7th BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition Grand Final to be held at Sydney’s historic and prestigious Town Hall on the 5th of May.
