Nick Selvadurai wins local Belvedere Challenge

Melbourne’s Nick Selvadurai took out 1st place in the Asia Pacific finals of The Belvedere Challenge this past Monday in Sydney.

Selvadurai, of Melbourne bar Cookie, impressed the judges (Belvedere global ambassador Ali Dedianko, The Barber Shop’s Mike Enright, GQ publisher Nick Smith and Australian Bartender editor Sam Bygrave) with his take on the next legendary Martini.

Selvadurai will be joined by Singapore’s Steve Leong and New Zealand’s James Millar in London in June as they compete against the top three bartenders from the US regional finals, and one French bartender and two UK bartenders (one, Rob Libecans, will be familiar to Australians from his time at Melbourne’s Black Pearl and Sydney’s The Baxter Inn) who made it through the Europe regional round.

The Asia Pacific regional final was held Monday and saw eight Australian bartenders go up against bartenders from Hong Kong, New Zealand, India and Singapore.
