The doors to new Melbourne pub, Garden State Hotel, were thrown open last Tuesday, and it’s looking great.
Garden State Hotel is in the Melbourne CBD at 101 Flinders Lane, and is the seventh venue for the Sand Hill Road hospitality group (among their other venues are the Terminus and the Prahran Hotel). It’s on the site of a former Melbourne hospitality icon, Rosati, and is the group’s first foray into the CBD.
“We’d been looking for a location in the Melbourne CBD for years but we knew it was a long shot to find a site of this scale with so much potential,” said one of the group’s four owners, Matt Mullins. “We all remembered long days and amazing nights at Rosati. By the time we rediscovered the space, it’d been closed for years, but the moment we returned we knew it was special. To us, pubs have been the one constant through hundreds of years of Melbourne history.”
