Sydney Bar Week is just some three weeks away, and the timetable is packed full of events — it’s the biggest Bar Week yet.

And one of the highlights of the week? It’s this special Bar Week edition of Coleman’s Academy.

Coleman’s Academy is an initiative for women in hospitality founded by Sydney bartender Paige Aubort, and is set up to bring “women together for the purpose of educating, inspiring and opening up communication between the women in this industry.” They’ve had a number of excellent speakers in the past, but for Sydney Bar Week they’re putting on a panel — one which includes Myffy Rigby (Good Food Guides editor), Tash Conte (Black Pearl owner and this year’s Most Outstanding Contribution recipient at the Bar Awards), Edwina Throsby (Broadcast Media), and Harriet Leigh (Archie Rose’s bar manager and finalist for Bar Manager of the Year), with more to be announced.

That’s an esteemed panel right there. And here’s the best bit: whereas the usual Coleman’s Academy sessions are women-only events, for the Bar Week session all comers are welcome, offering the lads out there a chance to come and see what really happens at Coleman’s and to hear from some top-flight individuals.
