Get your Bacardi Legacy entry in before September 28

Entries are now open for the 2016/2017 BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition in Australia.

Now in its fourth chapter, BACARDÍ Legacy was established to challenge the best contemporary bartenders in the world to create their own cocktail Legacy – that will stand the test of time and ensure that both bartender and beverage are remembered like the illustrious classic cocktails of the past. Drinks such as the Daiquiri and the Mojito are now revered as classic and are as much part of the unique legacy of Don Facundo Bacardi Masso as the rum itself.

Following in the footsteps of Fred Siggins, Alissa Gabriel and this year’s Australian Legacy title-holder, Andrew Bennett, the winner of the Australian Grand Final in 2017 will go on to represent him/herself and Australia at the BACARDÍ Legacy Global Final in Berlin, Germany.

For the first time, the Bacardi Family Reserve, BACARDÍ Ocho, will be included in the BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition. BACARDÍ Ocho is the oldest private rum blend in the world, remaining the solve preserve of the BACARDÍ family until 1996. This addition is a competition game changer, extending the possibilities and inspiration of cocktail legacy creation.

Bartenders can access the entry form via the official ‘BACARDÍ Legacy Australia’ Facebook page or email to receive the direct link. Upon completion they will also need to submit a photo of their original Legacy cocktail.

In the lead up to entries closing, BACARDÍ’s Brand Ambassadors will be hosting masterclasses in all major cities for competition hopefuls. Some of our very own Legacy legends including Andrew Bennett, Fred Siggins, Alissa Gabriel, Igor Pachi and Peter Hollands will be attending their local event offering their insider tips and tricks to help pave the way to another Australian success story.

  • Melbourne, 12 September at Garden State Hotel
  • Perth, 13 September at Lucky Chan’s
  • Adelaide, 14 September at Casablabla

Entries close 28th September, 2016, midnight AEST.

From the entries, the Top 50 will be selected to participate in the first BACARDÍ Legacy Australian National Tasting Tour in October 2016. Brand Ambassador Loy Catada will lead the tour to evaluate the cocktails on their presentation, aroma and of course, taste.

The country’s Top 8 or ‘Ocho’ will be invited to Sydney to participate in a marketing workshop, followed by a bar takeover where competitors will present their original Legacy cocktail as well as the BACARDÍ Daiquiri to a judging panel of industry legends. The semi-final will be celebrated at a ‘Gran Familia’ intimate dinner where the Top 3 Most Promising will be announced.

Mentored by dedicated Brand Ambassadors, these three competitors will partner with BACARDÍ to market and promote their cocktail with a budget of $1,500 plus complimentary stock of the BACARDÍ rum featured in their cocktail.

During the promotional period BACARDÍ will help these aspiring bartenders forge their place in the Australian cocktail industry, through financial, developmental support aligned with BACARDÍ’s marketing and experiential initiatives.

Based on the success of their drink and overall campaign, ONE of the Three Most Promising will be selected as the 2017 BACARDÍ Legacy Australian Cocktail Competition Winner at the final held in February 2017.

The journey will culminate in Berlin, Germany where our Australian winner will compete on the international stage for the ultimate title in the BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition.
