Get a look at this new book from Luke McCarthy. McCarthy is an Aussie drinks writer who knows his stuff, because he’s also a bartender — he’s spent a lot of time at Melbourne whisky den Whisky + Alement.
In The Australian Spirits Guide he delves into the burgeoning Australian spirits scene, profiling distilleries and spirits and the personalities behind them. Take a look at the October issue of Australian Bartender for an extract from his book, in which he covers the history of Australian distilling — it’s a well-researched grand sweep of the role that spirits have played in Australia since white settlement began a couple hundred years or so back.
We reckon it will find a place on many a back bar as an invaluable resource into Aussie distilling.
