Kokomo’s

1 Genge St, Canberra

Canberra has welcomed a new bar and eatery to its thriving hospitality scene, with the launch of Kokomo’s.

Yep, like the song. So expect a definite island feel to the place, in both the drinks and the food. The food, described as “pan Pacific eats”, features Hulli Hulli rotisserie chicken, Mauritian beef shank curry, oysters and more, and the drinks take a distinctly tropical turn.

The venue comes from Michael and Peter Harington, whom you may know from such Canberra joints as Sage Dining Rooms and AKIBA, and there’s some notable bar folks involved on the drinks side. Nathan Allen-Jones is in as the group beverage manager, and they’ve brought on board Brett Harris, who’s a dab at hand at the tiki end of the drinks spectrum and will be dishing out drinks like the Miami Vice (a Pina Colada with a Strawberry Daiquiri on top) courtesy of their own slushie machine (that’s a tick from us).
