Now in its fifth chapter, BACARDÍ Legacy was established to challenge the best contemporary bartenders in the world to create their own cocktail Legacy – that will stand the test of time and ensure that both bartender and beverage are remembered like the illustrious classic cocktails of the past. Drinks such as the Daiquiri and the Mojito are now revered as classic and are as much part of the unique legacy of Don Facundo Bacardi Masso as the rum itself.
This year’s entries have an incredible opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Fred Siggins, Alissa Gabriel, Andrew Bennett, and this year’s Australian Legacy title-holder, Dave Kerr. The winner of the Australian Grand Final in 2017/18 will go on to represent him/herself and Australia at the BACARDÍ Legacy Global Final in Mexico City.
With an impeccable record of reaching the top 8, Australian finalists have proven their skills to the international bartending community. Their incredible performances have gained them not only personal notoriety, but recognition of Australia as a significant contributor in the development of the bartending profession worldwide.
BACARDI Australia’s continuous commitment to supporting their competitors each year helps these aspiring bartenders forge their place in the Australian cocktail industry and develop the individuals’ entrepreneurial approach to their career. Keeping Don Facundo’s Legacy of quality, entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for innovation alive.

BACARDÍ LEGACY AUSTRALIA TOP 30
From the entries, the Top 30 will be anonymously selected and then those successful bartenders will be asked to submit a video entry of themselves presenting their original Legacy cocktail at their hometown bar. This will be viewed and judged alongside the taste test conducted by the BACARDÍ Brand Ambassadors where each of the Top 30 cocktails will be evaluated on its presentation, aroma and of course, taste to then cut it down to the country’s Top 8.
BACARDÍ LEGACY AUSTRALIA NATIONAL SEMI FINALS
The Top 8 or ‘Ocho’ bartenders will be invited to Melbourne to make and present their original Legacy cocktail and the BACARDÍ Daiquiri in front of a judging panel of industry legends. The semi-final will be celebrated that evening at a cocktail party where the Top 3 Most Promising will be announced.
THREE MOST PROMISING
Mentored by dedicated Brand Ambassadors, these three competitors will partner with BACARDÍ to promote their cocktail with a budget of $1,000 plus complimentary stock of the BACARDÍ rum featured in their cocktail.
During the promotional period BACARDÍ will help these aspiring bartenders forge their place in the Australian cocktail industry, through financial, developmental support aligned with BACARDÍ’s marketing and experiential initiatives.
AUSTRALIAN GRAND FINAL
Based on the success of their drink and overall campaign, ONE of the Three Most Promising will be selected as the 2017 BACARDÍ Legacy Australian Cocktail Competition Winner at the final held in February 2018 in Sydney.
The journey will culminate in Mexico City, Mexico where our Australian winner will compete on the international stage for the ultimate title in the BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition.
