It’s the Year of the Dog and Bars March is back – here’s how to get involved

Bars March is back again in 2018.
Back for its ninth year, Bars March is all about good times for a good cause — here’s how you can get involved.

It’s a simple idea, really: combine your love of bars with your love of cats and dogs and raise money for a good cause, namely the NSW Animal Welfare League, who give shelter to abandoned, surrendered and neglected animals.

Essentially, the idea is to #haveadrinksaveadog.

It’s a great way to support the cause and drive a little business for your bar.

“Every year the venues – and their customers – amaze us with their generosity,” says organiser (and regular Bartender of the Year judge), Amy Cooper. “Last year, for example, O Bar & Dining sold 799 Barking Mad cocktails over the month. This year, we’re urging everyone to head to one of our bars and toast the Year of the Dog with a BARS MARCH drink.”

During the month of March, celebrate the great bar culture of Sydney and get your bar involved in the cause. There’s already a bunch of great animal-loving bars on board: The Carrington (Surry Hills), Frisco Hotel (Woolloomooloo); Kittyhawk (CBD),The Lobo Plantation (CBD), Misfits Bar & Dining (Redfern), East Village Sydney(Darlinghurst), Big Poppa’s (Darlinghurst), Whirly Bird (Pyrmont),O Bar & Dining (CBD), Watsons Bay Hotel, (Watson’s Bay) and The Royal Leichhardt (Leichhardt).

How does it work? Take a look at the Bars March website, list a Bars March drink to support the month, and fill out the form here to get started.
