The Opihr Gin World Adventure Cocktail Competition Returns

Opihr Gin, the world’s fastest-growing, leading premium gin, is launching the fifth edition of its much-anticipated Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition, open to top bartenders across the globe.

This year, bartenders are asked to embrace the Opihr ‘Spirit of Adventure’ by creating a new Opihr cocktail, and for the first time, they must submit an accompanying video online, posting it on the brand’s website, https://competition.opihr.com, along with their recipe. Applications are now open and will close on 1st June 2018.

The bartenders judged to have the best entries in each market will be selected to attend a local final in their region, where they will compete against others for the opportunity to participate at the Grand Final in September, where they will be immersed in the Opihr ‘Spirit of Adventure’. During the five- day Grand Final trip, the finalists will undertake a variety of challenges to showcase their skills, before competing in the final for the honour of being crowned the Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition Champion 2018.

Opihr Gin was recently voted the best London Dry Gin in a blind taste test by spirits experts in the UK2, has enjoyed great success in the last 12 months and continues to grow worldwide as consumers and bartenders alike discover its unique flavour, outstanding quality and versatility. The brand’s decision to opt for Ginger Ale as the mixer in its key serve, rather a tonic water, has set it apart from the many gins that have entered the market in the last five years, and has been warmly received by consumers looking for something more than a typical G&T.

The quality of Opihr Gin has also been recognized consistently in recent years, with its most recent awards being a Gold Medal in the London Spirits Competition and a Gold Medal in the CLASS Bartenders Brand Awards.

Shane Hoyne, Chief Marketing Officer at Quintessential Brands comments: “We’re delighted to be launching the Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition once again; last year’s edition was a great success – the level of talent and creativity displayed by those who made it to the final was outstanding and it was fantastic to see how the brand’s story inspired them to push the boundaries. As Opihr Gin continues to capture the imagination of gin drinkers the world over, we’re looking forward to seeing the creations of this year’s entrants and inspiring them to embrace their adventurous sides.”

The 2017 competition saw 900 applicants from 12 countries, and this year’s competition is set to be even bigger, with interest from bartenders from both established and up-and-coming gin markets high.
