Inspired by the pre-lockout days and the good old fashioned RSL, the South King Recreation Club is the latest addition to Newtown’s nightlife.
Open seven days a week, they’re channeling a small bar vibe atop the Botany View Hotel and taking their cues from the old clubs of Sydney town: “frozen chook raffles and cheap schnitty’s” as per their press release.
This one though will have cocktails coming over the bar — anyone for a Mezcal Grapefruit Paloma? — and $5 craft Tinnies and tap beers from local legends Young Henry’s and Hawke’s Brewing Co.
And you know it: there’s a meat tray raffle held on Wednesday nights.
