We Three: A cozy Marrickville bar run by a mother and daughter team

We Three, a neighbourhood bar on Marrickville’s Illawarra Road, is run by the mother-daughter duo Catherine and Ali Gibson Roy. Housed in a former bubble tea shop, it brings together good wine and Mediterranean-inspired plates in a setting full of heritage charm. It’s the kind of place where you pop in for a glass of natural wine and a snack, and end up staying for a hearty bowl of spaghetti puttanesca.

The space feels calm and welcoming, with earthy red, terracotta, and charcoal tones. The gleaming black marble bar, glowing lights, and shelves of spirits give it a polished yet cozy vibe. There are distinct areas to chill, depending on your mood—bar and table seating downstairs, with a cosy alcove tucked away at the back.

Described simply as ‘a bar with food’

Upstairs, past a neon radish, you’ll find sofas, armchairs, and banquette seating with windows that look out over the neighbourhood—Vietnamese restaurants, tiled rooftops, terrace house chimneys, and planes flying by in the distance. Two plaster lions stand guard at the top of the stairs, surrounded by tufted rugs, potted palms, a long red velvet curtain, and marble-topped tables. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed hangout in the Inner West.
