Australia’s leg of the global Angostura Cocktail Challenge is well under way thanks to a bumper turn out at the New South Wales state final on Monday night. Held at Sydney’s shrine to rum – La Bodeguita Del Medio – it was Rockpool Bar & Grill’s Neilsen Braid who proved he can stomach his bitters with the best of them by shrugging off the other competitors to take out the state title.
Every year Sydney’s Cargo hosts the Freestyle Cocktail Sessions. The annual event features 10 of Sydney’s top bartenders jumping behind the bar at Cargo Lounge for one night only to showcase their very own signature cocktail to full house of budding cocktail enthusiasts.
Following the huge success of Rockpool Bar & Grill in Melbourne, Neil Perry has brought his steakhouse concept to Sydney and the initial reviews have been nothing short of rave. Along with the impressive dining room (and the country’s most extensive wine list featuring over 3,800 wines) there is also a traditional steakhouse bar (think NYC style) located adjacent to the main dining room with a capacity for 45 drinkers.
