I tracked down this little gem via Amazon and had to settle for a second hand edition. I only stumbled upon it via my research for my upcoming Mexico trip with the author himself so I was a little surprised it was never mentioned earlier. Was it crap and this is why Tom didn’t plug it to me sooner? Well, I can safely say it’s not crap and it might just be a red hot collector’s item as right now the publishers (Simon Difford & Co) don’t seem to be printing any more which to me seems crazy if there is demand. Anyway the book itself is an enjoyable read as Tom doesn’t go overboard with history lessons or cocktails but focuses on easy reading and insightful interviews with the leading international agave aficionados like Julio Bermejo, Sophie Decobecq, many other distillery owners and our own Agave guru Phil Bayly. Well done Tom Estes.
