Mark your diaries: Here’s a taste of the new events coming to Sydney Bar Week 2019

Did you make it to Sydney Bar Week last September? Hosted by Australian Bartender (which celebrates its 20th year this year) the 2018 instalment of Bar Week was the biggest we’ve ever had, with some 28 events over five days, and bartenders from all over the country descending upon Sydney to partake in the festivities.

Well, this year is shaping up to be even bigger.

From the 14th to the 18th of September, we’ll have more than 30 events happening over five days — tasting shows, spirits and bar business talks, the Bartender Magazine Australian Bar Awards, Indie Spirits Tasting, the Whisky Roadshow, The Most Influential List, and all the trade parties and seminars that make Sydney Bar Week the biggest week of bar celebration each year.

Take a look at just a few of the events that are new and notable, and visit barweek.com.au to keep an eye on more events as they’re announced.

Oh, and make sure you get yourself rostered off!

Bartender Magazine Most Influential List sponsored by the House of Angostura

Held every two years since 2009, this is the original list of the who’s who of the Australian bar industry. We are looking for people from all walks of the Australian bar industry, from owners to designers, bartenders to brand managers, writers to trainers — those who lead the way, who inspire, and who are shaping the future of our industry.

Stay tuned for the opening of nominations — keep an eye on australianbartender.com.au.

Future Spirits Talks 2019: Whisky

Based upon the success of The Business of Bars® Conference format, Future Spirits Talks is a new addition to the Sydney Bar Week lineup in 2019. This year’s topic: Scotch Whisky.

The professional and passionate of the Australian bar industry will be in attendance to hear three in-depth talks and panels, exploring the big issues and trends of today, and what’s next for the Scotch whisky industry.

With support from William Grant & Sons and Moet-Hennessy already on board, it’s set to be a thought provoking afternoon.

Bitters, Books & Bostons Market

Coming to Sydney Bar Week for the first time in 2019, the Bitters, Books & Bostons Market is where all our guests can try and buy a huge range of cocktail bitters, books, and bar equipment, as well as a big range of bar swag and merch from the country’s best bars, all under one roof.

If you’re a book author, bitters maker, or you’ve just got some ace bar swag to sell, get in touch with David Spanton at david@spantonmedia.com to get involved.

Daily Health & Wellness Classes

In 2019 we are excited to be integrating three morning Health & Wellness classes for people attending Sydney Bar Week. Living a balanced life is increasingly important for people working in the bar industry and these morning classes are a chance to regroup and revitalise during the busy five days of Bar Week. We’ll offer up a range of activities each day during Bar Week — if you’re a brand looking to get involved, get in touch with David Spanton on the details below.

For brands, if you’re interested in getting involved in Sydney Bar Week 2019, get in touch with David Spanton on david@spantonmedia.com for sponsorship and event opportunities.
