Nikka are bringing influential Japanese bartender Hiroyasu Kayama to Bar Week

There is a lot happening at Sydney Bar Week this year, and there’s some special international guests coming into town for the festivities.

Like Hiroyasu Kayama from Tokyo’s Bar Benfiddich. He is the man behind the bar and whose approach to cocktails has seen the bar featured on the World’s 50 Best Bars List (landing at 49 in 2018), and he recently was listed at 83 on Drinks International’s Bar World 100 for his creativity and for how he “follows his unparalleled palate, breaking down and rebuilding known amaro and playing with traditional elixirs and herbal liquors.”

And thanks to Nikka Whisky, Kayama is coming to town for Sydney Bar Week. He’ll be hosting a guided masterclass with Nikka whiskies which “will be carefully and consciously paired with different flavours intended to create quasi-cocktail-in-your-mouth, a process known as ‘kochuchomi’ in Japan.”

It’s going to be fascinating stuff. You’ll want to get in quick and register your interest in attending by emailing Nikka@KDPO.com.au.

This is just one of the 35-plus great events lined up over five days of Sydney Bar Week, taking place between Saturday the 14th and Wednesday the 18th of September. It’s set to be the biggest Bar Week ever — get over to barweek.com.au and get your RSVPs and tickets sorted before they run out.
