Adam Dow wins the BACARDÍ Legacy Australia Cocktail Competition

Adam Dow.,

Tonight hospitality royalty gathered in South Melbourne to witness four of Australia’s finest bartenders’ strain, stir and shake it out in the Australian finals of the BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition 2019/20. After much deliberation following tight presentations and delicious tipples, Adam Dow of Dead Ringer in Sydney was announced victorious.

Tonight’s announcement also fell on Founders Day – a day to celebrate the legacy and fearless journey of our Bacardi family over the last 158 years.

Dow’s drink, The Golden Rule was judged not only against its ingredients and methods used to create a stunning cocktail for the ages, but also the expertise in promoting the drink to the public. In the end, his slick presentation skills and the delicious flavour won the judges over – the full recipe for The Golden Rule can be found below.

With this win, Adam has moved from Top 8 last year tonow looking forward to representing Australia on the global stage in Miami. The Golden Rule is inspired bythe old age rule – treat others as you’d wish to be treated. It successfully combines BACARDÍ Carta Blanca, cirtrus, honey bitters and rosewater.

Dow is now off to Miami in May on an all-expenses-paid journey to represent Australia against the best bartenders from 41 countries globally, and potentially etch his country’s name into the bartending history books.

BACARDÍ Brand Ambassador Loy Catada said of the evening, “Seeing our three competitors going head to head under such high pressure is truly inspiring. Their enthusiasm for creating a legacy of their own shone brightly, and the judges had their work cut out for them picking a winner.”

The panel of judges consisted of industry heavyweights – Greg Sanderson, Hayden Lambert, Sam Bygrave and Penny Sippe.

Dow takes home a raft of prizes, including stock, promotional and financial support from

BACARDÍ nationally and in their hometown. The public will be able to try the The Golden Rule cocktail from select bars around the country in March.

To further add to the excitement of the evening our past six Australian BACARDÍ Legacy winners were in attendance and showcased their Legacy cocktails to guests.

Fred Siggins, Alissa Gabriel, Andrew Bennett, Dave Kerr, James Irvine and Jenna Hemsworth mixed their cocktails with flair and illustrated how their Legacy creations are as delicious today as the year they were presented to the judges.

BACARDÍ Legacy was established to challenge the best contemporary bartenders in the world to create their own cocktail legacy. A cocktail that will stand the test of time, as have the Daiquiri and Mojito, revered BACARDÍ classics that are as much part of the unique legacy of Don Facundo Bacardi Masso as the rum itself.
