FIGHT NIGHT IS COMING TO SYDNEY BAR WEEK!

Kicks off at 9pm with Round 1 from 10pm sharp.

This will be the first of many National Fight Night Comps by The Rum Diary and held at The Lobo during Bar Week!
Fight Night is an Amateur cocktail competition where 6 bartenders with less that 3 years experience will fight for the prestigious ‘Fight Night Belt’ and bragging rights for the following year until they can return to defend their title against 5 new national contenders.
Bacardi & De Kuyper will be the sponsor brands and what the competitors must use in their drinks.
How it works;
ROUND 1 – TRIAL UNDER FIRE!
This round will take you back to that first trial shift we all remember.
The competitors have 10 minutes to make and sell as many of the drinks of the set menu to your friends or the public. Your opponent is at the station next to you, trying to outsell you and beware… It’s called “Fight Night” for a reason.
The bartender that sells the most drinks, wins the round! Simple…
However, you can be deducted points within the round if a mistake/foul is made just like in the boxing ring.
During the 10 minutes, the guest judges will be watching for any mistakes.
Mistakes include;
– Knocking over a drink
– Discrepancy in the total takings during “Your 10 min shift”
– Customer service (the ability to work the crowd and serve evenly under pressure)
This is to show that you can do more than just throw drinks out with no quality or shit chat.
The winner of this round, progresses to the final later in the night.
ROUND 2 – MYSTERY BOX COCKTAIL CREATION!
The first rounds will leave us with 3 remaining bar tenders.
Each bartender will be presented with a mystery box of ingredients to use alongside the featured rum.
You’ll then be given time to create a cocktail to be judged by our guest judges.
The winner of the night will be the bartender who receives the highest score from the judges!
