One thing that is inescapable in Adelaide is wine. It’s everywhere, and it’s little wonder given the rich, plentiful supply they have in them there Hills surrounding the city. Beneath the now-defunct Bull & Bear Hotel on King William Street a new bar, Jack Ruby Bar & Diner is taking shape and has opened at the start of April. According to bar manager Joshua Dolman (ex-Sangria), the bar is “named after the nightclub owner who famously shot down Lee Harvey-Oswald before he could be put on trial for the assassination of JFK.

2011 was a cracker year for the Walkers Arms Hotel. They scooped the pool at the South Australian AHA Awards and were given the title of best overall hotel. Yet this revamped and tech-savvy hotel, just a short distance from the Adelaide CBD, has had a long history that runs parallel with the history of South Australia itself.
The Walkers Arms, first established in 1839, was gutted by a fire caused by an electrical fault in November 2007. June this year, however, has seen a brand new Walkers Arms come to life.

Opened in March this year, Limbo occupies the space between Adelaide’s popular nightclub Electric Circus and live music venue Rocket Bar. The site was originally a record store run by the owners, Paul Glen and James Hillier (Electric Circus, Rocket Bar and Botanic) which has been empty over the last three years.
Hotel Tivoli is the latest addition to the Preston Bar Group’s portfolio which includes Adelaide’s Union Hotel and Bar Cuba.
