There is only one month left for you to cast your vote for the only national awards dedicated to our beloved bar industry. Voting closes Sunday, May 31 so head to www.barshow.com.au to make sure your voice is heard.
You may have heard on the grapevine that there have been a couple of changes to the awards categories; primarily the rules regarding Cocktail Bar of the Year and the all new Small Bar of the Year award.
To qualify for Cocktail Bar of the Year not only will you need to top the trade votes but you must also have available bottled mixers and bespoke or premium (solid 25mm²) cubed ice. The idea is to not only reward to those who raise standards in the industry, but to also help define the difference between the Bar of the Year and Cocktail Bar categories.
In 2009 the Australian bar awards will welcome the addition of the Small Bar of the Year category. This new award has come at the cost of the New Nightclub of the Year category (new nightclubs will have to compete in Nightclub of the Year) and aims to reward those pint sized venues that still pack a punch (or even a Sour or a Collins). So if your venue holds 100 people or less consider giving this award a nudge.
Voting is now open and will close at 12pm May 31. Full rules explained on www.barshow.com.au
