Though vinyl records have gone the way of the dodo, Walkmans, and car-phones, there will always be a place for intimate bars where you can get a good drink with good service.

It’s not rocket science and Mojo Record Bar, a recent addition to the Sydney CBD’s drinking scene, doesn’t over-complicate things. Like the simple pleasure of listening to a record on vinyl, without Facebook and iPhone integration and sans shuffle, so too does Mojo keep things elemental. The big focus here is on drinks from the bottle. You’ll find that nearby Newtown brewer Young Henry’s draught is just as analogue (it’s of the hand-pumped variety) and all the beers are as Australian as Skyhooks.

You can catch the trend toward “large-format” beers here with 2L Growlers available too. You won’t see airs, foams or nitro behind the bar either. They keep it short (there’s just seven on the list) and some with just a tinge of sweet, like the Lemon Cohen and the Smells Like Gin Spirit. Classics like the Corpse Reviver #2 round out the list.
