Well it’s been pretty dreary times for the Cross lately, thanks to the effect of the new lockout laws, so it’s good to see that some operators still think opening a new venue in the Cross is a good idea.

Rocafelas is a venture between Nate Johnson (formerly of The Anchor) and Rocco Tozzi. They’re pushing good drinks and good music, said Johnson.

“There’s been a lot of bad press lately about the area, when realistically we’re in a suburb with a huge local community and we have tried to create a space where the locals can drop in for a drink, great food and conversation with some amazing tunes playing in the background,” said Johnson.

They’re smashing out top-notch food at prices that won’t break the bank: nothing on the food menu is over $20. The food is courtesy of chef Jess Playford who has been on the pans at The Anchor, Bondi and at The Victoria Room in Darlinghurst.
