The great thing about cocktail comps is that they so often afford you once in a lifetime opportunities — and the upcoming Gin Mare Mediterranean Inspirations competition is going to do just that.
The folks at Gin Mare — distributed in Australia by Think Spirits — are looking for the best Mediterranean-inspired cocktail.
To enter, and to get your shot at winning a trip to Ibiza to represent Australia at the global final, all you have to do is register your Mediterranean Inspired cocktail by July 15th, at mediterraneaninspirations.com. The best will be selected to attend the Australian final on Monday 29th July.
What you need to do:
Step 1 – Online Entry
- Register at mediterraneaninspirations.com
- Enter one recipe for your “Mare Nostrum” (Ancient Rome name for Mediterranean Sea) cocktail. Looking for an Aperitivo style of cocktail with max 35ml of Gin Mare and using no more than 6 ingredients. Must display a distinct and recognisable Gin Mare profile and keep it Mediterranean.
- Closing date for entries is now Monday 15th July
Step 2 – Australian National Final on Monday 29th July (venue tbc)
- Gin Mare will contact those who have qualified for the final
- Those interstate their flights and accommodation will be covered
- On the day you will present 2 drinks:
- Your registered Gin Mare “Mare Nostrum”.
- Please bring at least 2 identical glasses to showcase your drink
- Your Gin Mare Mediterranean Gin & Tonic drink (must contain a minimum of 50ml Gin Mare). Present your Mediterranean take on this iconic long drink. 1724 Tonic water will be the tonic used in the final and will be provided by Gin Mare on the day. Each finalist will also receive a case 2 weeks before the final to taste check their recipe.
- Gin Mare will provide 2 glasses for the Gin Mare Mediterranean Gin & Tonic
- From the 2 drinks, 3 judges will select the winner to represent Australia.
- Your registered Gin Mare “Mare Nostrum”.
Step 3 – International Final at Villa Mare Ibiza!
- Final takes place 1st – 5th on Ibiza. The winner will need to be available for travel from August 30th.
- All flights and accommodation for the trip are covered as well as meals when in Ibiza.
- Winner will need to present their 2 drinks from the Australian National final
- The final challenge is the Gastrobartender Presentation:
- To help you achieve this, you will be contacted by our team of chefs from the 50 best restaurants. They will consult with you offering advice so you can all work together on the development of a cocktail and a small plate of food focusing on this year’s Mediterranean ingredient the Bergamot. Remember though, you design the cocktail and the chefs work around your creation to create the plate that will go with it.
