Registration for Starwards ‘Rules for the New Old Fashioned’ competition are now open.

The competition challenges entrants to create their own take on the Old Fashioned using Starward Whisky, pushing beyond tradition while still respecting the bones of the classic. It’s less about throwing random ingredients at a glass and more about showing you actually understand what makes the drink tick.

If you missed the recent masterclasses, you’re not out of luck. Competitors can reach out directly to their local brand ambassadors to get across the full brief, presentation materials, and everything else needed to enter:

The winning cocktail will be bottled and released nationwide, featuring both the bartender’s name and their venue — a rare chance to cement your drink on a much bigger stage. The winner will also score a trip to Melbourne, a share in the profits from their cocktail’s sales, and the option to either bring a fellow team member along for the ride or throw a staff party back home, on Starward’s tab.
