After more than three years with Suntory, Mick Formosa, the Brand Ambassador of the Year at the Bartender Magazine Australian Bar Awards 09 , has decided to move on. Mick will be joining the team at Moet Hennessy Australia in the Victoria as in an account manager/brand ambassador role made vacant by Robb Sloan’s migration to Behind Bars in Sydney.

The 2009 Australian Bartender Magazine Bartender of the Year Competition (sponsored by Club Suntory) brought out the best of Australian bartending talent in a competition that tested their knowledge of the backbar with a gruelling written exam, their ability to serve a custromer, their savvy at identifying the ingredients in a cocktail in a blind tasting and their skill at presenting and creating two signature cocktails to a panel of esteemed critics.
The Suntory Cup, which is now into its 21st year of competition, is unique in the fact that it hunts for the best cocktail recipe of 2009 with drinks being judged on their own merits and not on the popularity or pull of the bartender who created them.
