On Monday 26 October 2009 the NSW Government abolished Place of Public Entertainment Licenses (POPE) that were required for local venues to play live music. These reforms have made it easier for licensed venues to host live entertainment and music.

Visit the NSW Planning website for more details and information about the reforms.

In a bid to help Venue operators, council, performers and regulators with deciphering these reforms, the NSW Government is hosting two free two hour workshop on recent changes to the planning system (removal of POPES) for live entertainment in NSW.These workshops will be held on Tuesday, 1 December & Wednesday, 9 December 2009.

The workshops are being organised by Planning NSW and aim to provide practical information about what the reforms mean. Speakers will include representatives from Planning NSW and OLGR.
