Level 1, 5-9A Roslyn Street, Potts Point, Sydney
There was certainly no small amount of noise made when Kings Cross institution – Baron’s – was bowled over to make room for ‘progress’. The building that now occupies the Baron’s site, however, surprisingly shows a good deal of taste for Sydney developers by invoking an almost Gaudi-esque appearance. Baron’s might be lost, but a new offering called Beach Haus – whilst world’s apart from said hang – aims to be a new home for drinkers feeling similarly displaced by the evolution of Kings Cross.
Simon Chalmers, co-owner of Victoria Street’s Kudu Lounge, was worked closely with designer, Caroline Choker to create a space that feels like a private abode rather than another prefabricated bar. Beach Haus also bucks the prevalence of dark-wood-and-chrome interiors by opening a light, crisp, new space that aims to offer its patrons a truly immersive exclusivity and unsurpassable hospitality.
To help you feel pampered Chalmers has a company of suitably attired butlers and bartenders to cater for your needs. They staff are equipped with butler’s trolleys and Waterford chests (a private bar on wheels!) to bring vodka and caviar, champagne or share-style cocktails served in over sized nautically-inspired vessels. Think enormous silver shells, vintage treasure chests and ornate decanters, and topped with handcrafted, platinum gold straws each weighing 300 grams.
Beach Haus is one part Miami bling mixed with a dash of 1950s Hampton’s style luxury topped with Sydney’s more relaxed friendly vibe. Note that this venue also employs an strict not camera policy so patrons can enjoy their bespoke service free from the fear of unsolicited Facebook taggings.
Beach Haus’ official launch is set for tonight, June 16.
