With a list put together by Matt Hewitt (ex-The Bowery, where he won Bar Manager of the Year in the 2007 Australian Bar Awards) cocktails are front and centre at this Brisbane bar. The list is a brief 15 cocktails long but what they lack in numbers they make up for by putting everything in to those drinks. There’s four sections to keep things simple, which we like: fresh, smoked, carbonated, and punch. The Applewood Treacle (Havana 7 Rum, wattle toffee, bitters and apple smoke) is to be applauded and for those summer afternoons, the Paloma and a Fogcutter will be hard to go past.
Given that it is above Archive Beer Boutique & Bistro, they have access to some interesting brews with Brooklyn Brown and Holgate Brewhouse’s Mt Macedon Ale available. And the food gets the attention it is due these days, too; crepe and confit duck wraps, kolsch-battered onion rings and a ploughman’s plate are among the sustenance on offer.
