Beneath the Newmarket Hotel lies this quirky addition to Melbourne’s bar scene. From the Melbourne Pub Group and chef Paul Wilson, the emphasis is as much on food (see our bar profile for a look at the kick-arse latin food) as it is on their 30-odd tequilas and mezcals. There’s a swank nightclub feel to the place – and by nightclub, we mean the type that Dino and Frankie used to frequent. And that’s no coincidence, as entertainment is a drawcard for their customers, whom director, Julian Gerner describes as ‘well-heeled, mature audience that appreciate the finer things in life and are looking for grown up fun.”
Since we first wrote about this bar a couple of changes have taken place, with the bar trading on Friday and Saturday nights only for the time being. They have retooled the high-end Latin American degustation food menu and are running with a bar menu for the time being. The mezcal remains!
