Last year’s winner of the Best Cocktail Bar of the Year at the Australian Bartender Bar Awards, Sydney’s Bulletin Place, is going from strength to strength. Not only have they celebrated their first birthday back in December, but they’ve now found themselves in need of a new set of hands as the bar gets busier.

“We’re now really hitting our stride and find ourselves getting busier and busier,” said Rob Sloan, one third of the Bulletin Place ownership trio that includes Adi Ruiz and Tim Philips.

The bar, which landed at number 26 on the World’s 50 Best Bars list, has picked up the award-winning talents of BLACK and Sokyo bar manager Michael Chiem. Chiem’s high level of experience behind the stick was a key factor in his hiring, said Sloan.

“Our decision to hire Mike was unanimously based on us wanting to propel the business forward with an incredibly accomplished bartender,” he said. “Michael arrives with a wealth of experience and is aligned with our ethos here at Bulletin Place.”
