Stop putting it off and get your entry in for the Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge now

Entries for the ANZ Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge will close on Sunday, 18 August – that’s just under three weeks away! So stop putting it off and get on with it.

Winning the comp is not just about taking out the crown, it’s also about becoming the next Angostura Brand Ambassador.

The comp will be held in Bar Week and the top six finalists from Australia and New Zealand will be flown to Sydney for Bar Week.

Each finalist will each receive a ticket to Bartender Magazine’s Most Influential event and one sought after seat at the Bar Awards. The winner of the ANZ regional final will receive a 12 month contract as the ANZ Angostura Brand Ambassador as well as AUD $10,000.

The winner of each region is awarded a local ambassadorship and the global title goes to the winner of the global comp in Trinidad. Historically bartenders from the ANZ region have been the ones to watch, having taken out the top prize four times out of nine.

Previous Australian winners include well-known bartenders Marco Nunes, Zdenek Kastanek, Andy Griffiths, Joe Sinagra, Mike Tomasic, James Irvine, Dan Gregory and from NZ, Ray Letoa, who is the current House of Angostura global brand ambassador.

Dan Gregory, Australian champion and Australia’s current brand ambassador, says, “Do it! The prize is unreal. You travel to Trinidad during carnival for the global final. You become the Australian brand ambassador for Angostura if you win the national final, but if you win the global final too, you become the global ambassador.

“It’s the only comp I know of that gives you a taste of being a brand ambassador. That’s a massive deal.”

  • Don’t leave it to the last minute – do it now!
  • Keep it simple
  • Follow the rules to the letter. It’s amazing how many people fail because they haven’t followed the rules and guidelines of the competition
  • Ask your guests and colleagues for their opinions on your drink before submitting your recipes
