The streamed ceremony will begin at Thursday 3pm UK time (or 2am Friday morning AEDT), culminating in the announcement of The World’s Best Bar, sponsored by Perrier.

In the weeks prior to the final reveal, The World’s 50 Best Bars has already announced a series of special awards winners. Australia’s very own Maybe Sammy from Sydney was named the winner of Michter’s Art of Hospitality; Galaxy Bar in Dubai took home the Campari One To Watch; and Renato ‘Tato’ Giovannoni, Owner of Florería Atlántico in Buenos Aires was named the Altos Bartenders’ Bartender.

The World’s 50 Best Bars has also revealed an extended 51-100 List presented in association with Mancino Vermouth. The list included bars from 29 cities across 23 countries with the US leading the most number of entries with seven bars included in the list and Singapore leading Asia with five bars out of 16 across six countries. Australia had four bar entries all hailing from Melbourne: The Everleigh (#73), Byrdi (#80), Above Board (#84), and Black Pearl (#98).

For 2020, 50 Best made a number of changes to its Academy structure, which now includes more than 540 anonymous industry experts who cast the votes to create the list of The World’s 50 Best Bars. The Academy is also 50/50 gender balanced, there are 20 Academy Chairs in 20 new geographic regions, and – for the first time – the voting process and results are independently adjudicated by Deloitte.
