Despite the challenging marketplace, the Barrelhouse Group is pleased to announce a trio of new hires to help deliver a bold vision for the future

Alexandra Dahlenburg starts this week as Group General Manager, working across The Barber Shop, The Duke of Clarence and the upcoming Hickson House, slightly delayed by COVID but now firmly slated to open in September, with the team now deep into developing the drinks programme.

“I’m so excited to be joining the Barrelhouse family and assist with their expanding stable of unique venues, not to mention the beautiful stills at Hickson House. It feels like the universe delivered a tailor-made role combining my love of great service, diverse venues, whisk(e)y on back bars and now in a distillery.”

Alex has overseen some of Sydney finest cocktails bars and restaurants, landing both Whisky Icon of the Year and Bar Manager of the Year in 2020. She says: “I’m so excited to be joining the Barrelhouse family and assist with their expanding stable of unique venues, not to mention the beautiful stills at Hickson House. It feels like the universe delivered a tailor-made role combining my love of great service, diverse venues, whisk(e)y on back bars and now in a distillery.”

Director of Barrelhouse Mikey Enright says “We are thrilled to welcome such a well-loved and respected manager as Alex, not to mention her depth of spirits knowledge. She’s going to drive us to keep pushing the boundaries of both service and creativity”.

Co-founder of Barrelhouse Julian Train adds “Constructing a major new venue inside a heritage building, now with lockdown added, has been both challenging and exciting, but we’ve used the time to refine every element, and now we have the right team in place to help Mikey and I bring our vision to life and write Barrelhouse’s next chapter…”.
