After much anticipation and looking on from a (considerable) distance, Australian bartenders are going to have their chance to Back the Rack, when Speed Rack heads to Australia this July.
For those of you unaware of Speed Rack, it’s a competition founded by American bartenders Ivy Mix and Lynnette Marrero to put a spotlight on the great female bartenders working there, with all proceeds from the events go to supporting breast cancer education, prevention and research. It’s a hell of a good time for a great cause.
Since its founding Mix and Marrero have taken the competition around the USA, over the pond to England, and up to Canada, and now it’s Australia’s turn (click here to enter now).
Calling all those #downunder !!! We are excited to announce that applications for our inaugural #SpeedRackAustralia are open! The finals will take place in #sydney July 29! The national final will take place on Sunday the 29th of July at Sydney’s Marble Bar, and you’ll get to see firsthand the head to head, round robin style of bartending competition that Speed Rack is, and support the killer female bartending talent this country has to offer.
Mix and Marrero will also be hosting pop-ups of their bars Leyenda and Llama Inn in Sydney on Tuesday the 24th of July, and Melbourne on Wednesday the 1st of August, with venues to be confirmed.
There’s plenty more in store that week so stay tuned. For now, however, click here to head to the Speed Rack site to enter, and follow them on Instagram here for updates.
