Here’s the Australian Top 8 for the BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition 2018/2019

Next year’s BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition grand final will be held in Amsterdam.

The Top 8 bartenders have been selected to progress to the National Semi-Final in the 2018/2019 BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition in Australia.

BACARDÍ Brand Ambassadors, Loy Catada, Georgie Mann and Peter Hollands, worked tirelessly over the past few days to review the Top 30 entries from around the country, making each drink and reviewing the recipe videos submitted by the countries’ leading bartenders.

The competitors were judged against a set criteria including taste, aroma, innovation and inspiration.

Catada was captivated with the professionalism with which the competitors approached the competition, “They were very passionate, the drinks were positively delicious, and their preparation and enthusiasm for the competition came across in every video.”

The Top 8 bartenders who will be advancing to the Semi Final are:

  • Adam Dow – Dead Ringer NSW
  • Alex Brown – Convent Garden QLD
  • Dan Wall – Bibliotheca Bar & Book Exchange SA
  • David Robinson – Snapper Rocks NT
  • Jack Stacey – The Gresham QLD
  • Mikey Braun – Mjolner VIC
  • Millie Tang – The Gresham QLD
  • Will Krepop – Jungle Boy VIC

These bartenders are en-route to Brisbane on 29th October for the National Semi-Final held at the newly opened Boom Boom Room. Here the competitors will present their Legacy cocktail as well as the original BACARDÍ Daiquiri in front of our esteemed judges, Sam Bygrave, Barney Toy and Bonnie Shearston.

The Semi-Final event will culminate at that evening’s cocktail party where the Top 3 Most Promising will be announced.

In an exciting addition to the 2018/2019 competition, we are proud to include the 2018 Australian Bartender of the Year Jenna Hemsworth as our Wild Card into Final. Turning our Three Most Promising into Four.

Now in its sixth chapter, BACARDÍ Legacy was established to challenge the best contemporary bartenders in the world to create their own cocktail Legacy – that will stand the test of time and join the leagues of Fred Siggins, Alissa Gabriel, Andrew Bennett, Dave Kerr and James Irvine in representing Australia on the international stage.

FOUR MOST PROMISING
Mentored by dedicated Brand Ambassadors, these three competitors will partner with BACARDÍ to market and promote their cocktail and help these aspiring bartenders forge their place in the Australian cocktail industry.

AUSTRALIAN GRAND FINAL
Based on the success of their drink and overall campaign, ONE of the Four Most Promising will be selected as the 2019 BACARDÍ Legacy Australian Cocktail Competition Winner at the national final held in February 2019.

GLOBAL FINAL
The journey will culminate in Amsterdam, where our Australian winner will compete for the ultimate title in the BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition Final.
