Get set, bartenders, because one of the world’s great bartending comps is returning to Australia for its second time. After a spectacular debut last year, Speed Rack is back.

For those of you unaware of Speed Rack, it’s a competition founded by American bartenders Ivy Mix and Lynnette Marrero to put a spotlight on the great female bartenders working in the industry, with all proceeds from the events go to supporting breast cancer education, prevention and research. It’s a hell of a good time for a great cause.

Last year saw the founders come to Australia for the national final, in which top flight talent from around the country came to battle it out with the mighty Priscilla Leong taking out the title.

And with applications for Season 2 open now, if you want to throw down with fastest and baddest ladies of the Australian bar industry, all you need to do is to fill out the form here.

This year there are regional heats in five Australian cities, and applications close one week out from the competition — take a look at the dates for the regional heats below.

  • Adelaide (9/9) at Maybe Mae
  • Brisbane (29/9) at The Gresham
  • Sydney (22/9) at Earl’s Juke Joint
  • Melbourne (23/9) at Mr West
  • Perth (10/9) at Si Paradisio

The national finals are in Melbourne at The Espy in St Kilda, Melbourne on November 3rd. If last year’s national final is anything to go by, the Speed Rack Season 2 finale will be huge.

So ladies, please do enter and for the guys out there, make sure you get along to the regional heats and #backtheRack.
