As far as hospitality companies go, Liquid & Larder venues can stake claim as being a leader in the industry of providing exceptional guest experiences. Now, with four venues (Grandma’s, Wild Rover, Bistecca and The Gidley) in full swing and more openings on the horizon, a nation-wide search for a Group Bars Manager has begun to take the reins on the creation, training and execution of the beverage program.
Founded in 2010 by industry stalwarts James Bradey and Warren Burns, the duo are at the helm of creating venues that have ushered in the new era of Sydney’s bar scene since the small bar licenses were introduced. Now partnering with long time servicemen Kim McDiarmid and Dean Simpson, the team are hiring for the role recently vacated by Jono Carr (Australian Bartender of the Year Runner Up 2017).
The Group Bars Manager will be tasked with bringing to life the shared purpose of creating personal, awe-inspiring and memorable experiences through beverage creation, training and execution. “Jono did a great job creating The Gidley’s cocktail list and helped kick start the company-wide training program so we’re excited to see another passionate drinks person to leave their mark on the next era of bartenders” said James Bradey.

Creating great drinks is integral in every world class bar but equally important is having someone to look up to, train and invest time in developing a cohesive bar team. Liquid & Larder’s Group Bar Manager will be on service across the venues to lead the way to ensure all guests are enjoying world class drinks. “The role isn’t just about making great drinks but more importantly it’s setting high standards and helping your team achieve them” said Dean Simpson, Group Operations Manager.

Each venue in the company are mainstays on Sydney’s must go-to lists from Irish whiskey bar Wild Rover (as featured in our recent issue) and their infamous jovial greeting, to Grandma’s – one of Sydney’s first small bars on the scene. In 2018, the incredibly popular Italian-inspired restaurant and bar Bistecca opened with a daring concept. Most recently, The Gidley opened its doors – an American steak house with a ‘bar without a bar’ to rave reviews.
