Bar Profile: Alfred & Constance

There’s a lot going on at Alfred & Constance. In fact, there are four venues in one. And more drinks lists, food menus and nooks and crannies to peruse than one outing will allow. It seems the era of Brissie’s pumping super-nightclubs is coming to a close with patrons clamouring for more eccentric and intimate places to spend their downtime.

Why in Brisbane in particular, does location seem to be one of the most important factors to consider when opening a new venue? Are the people of Brisbane less adventurous than in other cities? Is it correlated to our infrastructure? Is it simply a lack of population?

At Sixes and Sevens

The team from the successful Cru Bar + Cellar have opened a new bar in Brisbane, called At Sixes and Sevens. The name is derived from the English phrase of the same name that describes one being in a little disarray and confusion. Yet the team clearly know what they’re doing judging by the strength of this offering.

Fourth Wall

Back in our June issue we brought you the news that this bar from Chris Denman (who placed 2nd to Jason Williams in the Bartender Magazine 2010 Bartender of the Year competition) and partner Stevie Wright would be coming. Its been open a few months now, and things are going well.

Tippler’s Tap
