There is always something on the boil at Sydney hospitality group, Merivale; their latest offering is the Queens Hotel in Enmore.

They’ve turned the old Queen Victoria Hotel into a venue that offers something for everyone; tasty eats, a classic pub, and a cocktail bar are all housed under the one roof. It’s a classic outing from Merivale, as they take their brand of hospitality to Sydney’s Inner West.

Let’s start where we usually like to start: with the cocktails. The cocktail bar sits on level two of Queens Hotel, and is named The Smelly Goat. Run by bar manager Harrison Westlake, expect flavoursome drinks premised made in a classic style with a hint of ingredients that will compliment the food at the venue’s restaurant, Queen Chow’s.

In the restaurant, it’s all about Cantonese flavours and dim sum. They’ve brought over Eric Koh, a master of dim sum, from their popular restaurant Mr Wong, who will be dishing up dim sum all day long (it sounds like the ideal ‘day after the night before’ option to us).

Hong Kong street kitchen classics also figure prominently, thanks to the time that chefs Christopher Hogarth and Patrick Friesen (both ex-Papi Chulo’s) spent in the island city researching for the menu.
