Barchella Perth: an awards night & party for the bar industry is on the cards

Event Organisers Ben Tua & Kayty Banks

On Monday the 5th of October there is going to be the biggest and wildest hospitality party of the year in Perth!

The brainchild of long-time industry legends, bar consultant Ben Tua (The Old Synagogue, El Grotto, Sweetwater) and DJ Kayty Banks (Banks & Co – Events, Promotions & Marketing) Barchella strives to bring Perth’s hospitality community together using the tag line “This is Hospitality, Welcome Home”.

Barchella will be held across three venues – Magnet House, Amplifier and The Edison, all in the Perth CBD.

“We really wanted to give back to our community. It has been a bit of a tough year, so we wanted to bring our hospitality family together for one big night and just party. We thought it was important to get everyone in our diverse hospo fam involved so we’ve reached out and got the small bar, the LGBTQ, the nightclub, the adult club and the restaurant communities involved,” says Banks.

The Court Hotel and Perth’s Rainbow community are taking over Amplifier and transforming it into ‘Camplifier’ for the night while Technical Alliance are taking over production to give the night a true festival feel.

Hosted by entertainers Scarlet Adams and Bambi Le Fist, Barchella will feature 6 stages with 6 music genres and 42 DJ’s across all 3 venues. Before the event will be the inaugural Barchella WA Bar Awards. Peer votes will be collated for a range of categories including Best Chef, Best Club, Best Bar and Best Mixologist. Finalists will be put in front of a panel of Perth’s top 100 hospitality professionals to decide the winners.

Barchella is also an event for a cause. Tua is donating 100% of his personal profits from the event to initiatives to help keep hospitality workers in Northbridge safe, as well as education initiatives for the WA bar community and a percentage of ticket sales will be donated to similar initiatives.

“Barchella is more than just an epic party”, Tua says. “We’re doing something positive for the community that has given us so much. Everyone deserves to return home after work unharmed. We’ve got some initiatives we want to support to make sure that happens”.

The general public are more than welcome to join Perth’s hospitality industry and industry discounts are available via codes provided by emailing youup@banksn.co. Door sales will also be available on the night.

“No one parties as hard as hospitality workers!”, Tua says. “It will definitely be a night to remember!”.
