A New York style tapaceria has opened its doors just up the road from Shady Pines in Darlinghurst. There is a clear food focus at Foley Lane and an Iberian inclination is evident in dishes that include morcilla, tostadas and braised octopus. However it is their knowledgeable approach to drinks that caught our eye, including a Spain-centric wine list that covers cava, godello and tempranillo. They pour Estrella from the tap and the short cocktail list is complimented by Sangria by the ‘litro’.
It looks like this taste for all things español has been well received by the locals. “We are very happy with the way things are going,” said one half of the ownership pair, Nathan Moses. “The response over the last four weeks from locals and customers has been fantastic.”
Moses and co-owner, Julian Marchetti, have known each other since childhood and hope to extend that familiarity to the neighbourhood. “We are excited about the coming months in making Foley Lane a place where everyone is welcome,” said Marchetti.
