Nestled in between the colourful Oxford Street scene and funky Surry Hills set is The Beresford Hotel. While a historic site, father and son team Ashod Nassibian and Gerry Nass, are not covering old ground with this new venture. In this latest incarnation The Beresford Hotel has been transformed into a 1920s New York-style pub with a fine Italian trattoria, huge outdoor spaces, a soon to open live music venue and function area all complimented by a bar team and drinks selection that one would expect in a top cocktail bar.

Australian bars were overlooked at the 2009 Tales of the Cocktail awards held in New Orleans at the popular cocktail festival last week. Last year, Melbourne’s 1806 was honoured with the prize for the World’s Best Cocktail List but this year it was pipped by The Merchant Hotel of Belfast in Northern Ireland. This hotel also scored gongs for Best Hotel Bar and Best Drinks Selection.
4bars.com.au pulled up a stool at Parlour to shed some lime light on a refreshingly ego-free operator, who really would be working behind the bar of both venues if her schedule allowed.
Opened in March this year, Limbo occupies the space between Adelaide’s popular nightclub Electric Circus and live music venue Rocket Bar. The site was originally a record store run by the owners, Paul Glen and James Hillier (Electric Circus, Rocket Bar and Botanic) which has been empty over the last three years.
